Businesses in Ascot needing professional headshots

Ascot, Berkshire, has a surprisingly high number of businesses for it's size located there and needing professional headshots. Why do they need up to date headshots?

Everyone knows that a person's business portrait is usually the first impression a potential client or peer gets, so having an up to date professional headshot helps you to stand out from the crowd.

The saying 'you never get a second chance to make a good first impression' is very apt when it comes to headshots.

Location for headshots in Ascot

Unless you are a sole trader without staff, I would usually undertake headshot photography at your offices in Ascot. This makes your life much easier, is time efficient for you and your staff, and because it is familiar to you all it will help settle those camera nerves.

Headshots are close up photos of a person looking directly into the camera. Usually it is their head and shoulders only. The background isn't the main feature, and for that reason I can create headshots pretty much anywhere. You may feel that your actual office doesn't have the right backdrop evenso, and in this instance I would scout around to find a suitable background in the locality. It is more about the light and finding a spot that works.

When we have our initial chat to set up the photography, we may conclude that to be on brand a different location entirely would be more suitable. Sometimes we decide to hire a suitable location to take the headshots. This can be logistically more complex but totally possible. The key is to get the right professional headshots for your business.

Preparing for professional headshots.

Businesses in Ascot are no different to elsewhere when it comes to professional headshots. Everybody hates the idea of posing in front of the camera! That is why preparation is key. I have a guide that I send out in advance that helps people think about what they will wear, ensuring they are fully prepared, and getting them into the right mindset.

I find that when well prepared, my clients are more confident. Then, during a shoot I suggest how people sit or stand and coax different expressions out of them. We take the time to ensure the headshots are the best of that person at that point in time as possible.

FAQs

I find that going to a business's offices can work well, especially as the ones in Ascot tend to be small and in interesting locations. The background, whilst important, is rendered out of focus and to colour/textures so not as important as light. When I go to a location, I always take some time before we start photographing to identify a couple of different locations that might work. It is a combination of light and background that I am looking for as this combination makes a headshot.
Having up to date headshots is crucial to any business, as this is the first impression people get from the website or LinkedIn profiles. More and more, businesses expect their senior managers to develop themselves as 'thought leaders'. This will involve talks, PR and other forms of marketing, all of which require photographs.
Businesses are increasingly aware that to stand out from their competitors, having their staff visible on the website can be a really helpful thing. That means that most staff will need headshot photos. As most people look up websites, social media or LinkedIn profiles before contacting a business, having a great headshot that depicts who you are, can be very helpful. It's all about the viewer connecting with the photo. It could be they are looking for someone friendly, or professional, or quirky - whatever it is, the photos need to show the people authenitically so the viewer can then decide whether to connect.
Clothes are an important part of a professional headshot and I send out a guide which goes through a lot of information to help you prepare for your shoot. The key is to feel comfortable, and to wear something that represents who you are and what you do. For example, if you never wear a tie or a floral pattern, don't get this for the shoot! Colours give a lot of imformation about the person so these need to be considered, as do necklines and seasons. It's all covered in my guide, so don't worry!
