Headshots are essential for any person in business.

Having a professional headshot has become recognised as one of the cornerstones in business. More and more we look people up on line before we meet them and a great headshot creates a good first impression.

You never get a chance to make a good first impression, so a selfie or a photo from your holiday or a party, much as you might like it, just won't do.

Asking a professional photographer to take your business portrait makes sense. They are quickly able to ascertain the best backdrop and the best light for your headshot.

Need an individual professional headshot?

For sole traders or employees wanting to get great photos of themselves, I work in Windsor or at a private members club in London. To ensure you feel at ease, I take around 45 minutes for a session and ensure I give direction on how to hold yourself and how to stand or sit. I have a handy guide that I send out in advance to help you prepare, which suggests a few changes of tops to give different 'looks'.

Expression is key as this is the focus of a headshot - the background is all about the textures and colours.

Afterwards, you get to choose from a variety of images that I will put on an online password protected gallery.

I can travel to your offices if there are a number of headshots required.

When there are multiple people involved, planning is the key to successful headshots. I ensure we get a variety of expressions and therefore choice.

The areas I travel to are usually London, Berkshire, Surrey, and the South East of England.

I send out the guide to preparing for professional photography in advance so everyone can be as prepared as possible. When you know what to expect, you become more confident and are more likely to relax in front of the camera.

When I arrive at the location, I will scout it out to find the best spot for the headshots.

Sometimes we divide the day up. One portion is spent with general staff, who get a selection of images in the same outfit/location. However, often the senior leadership team will require a wider selection of images, to enhance their personal brands. These can be used in pitches, for PR or other marketing material and we simply schedule a longer timeslot to ensure we get the variety needed for them.

Some people like to get advice on which headshots to choose, and I can input at selection stage.

Professional Headshot FAQs

Q: Who needs a Professional Headshot?

Anyone in or representing a business requires a professional headshot. Business owners and entrepreneurs are obvious candidates for a headshot, but most people have a LinkedIn profile these days so having a great headshot is important for everyone. Everyone who is part of the C-Suite, through to general employees want to make a good first impression, which is what a grat professional headshot can do.

Q: What is a good Professional Headshot?

A photo that visually represents who you are is good. This will usually mean great lighting and an appropriate background that doesn't overshadow you. Clothes are also important, as this starts the feel of the image - is it casual or formal? However, the expression in a professional headshot will set the tone for what people think of you from viewing your photo.

Q: Can I use a selfie for my headshot?

Of course, you can use any photo for your headshot. But the question to ask is whether that is giving the impression that you want to portray? A professional headshot will be high quality, with good lighting and have more impact than a selfie. A professional headshot can boost your presonal brand within your current business, produce greater engagement on professional platforms like LinkedIn, and even communicate your personality to potential cients or future employers.
